Commonplace Death:
It's all around us. We consume a deadly poison without even knowing it. Furthermore, we want to consume it. 100 times sweeter than sugar, Aspartame is commonly used in 'sugar free' sodas. Urban legend? Far from. It's dangerous to assume the best, seeing as how Aspartame can kill.
Killing us Sweetly:
In this article from the FDA, it states that "...FDA determined in 1981 that aspartame was safe for use in foods." However..."However, certain people with the genetic disease phenylketonuria (PKU), and pregnant women with hyperphenylalanine (high levels of phenylalanine in blood) have a problem with aspartame because they do not effectively metabolize the amino acid phenylalanine, one of aspartame's components." High levels of this amino acid in body fluidsd can cause brain damage.
Another source on the FDA website states that "Out of90 independently-funded studies, 83 of them found one or moreproblems caused by aspartame. But out of the 74 studies funded bythe aspartame industry (e.g., Monsanto, G.D. Searle, ILSI, etc.),every single one of them claimed that no problems were found." What does this mean? They know. They know the effects that this can cause, but their precious money means more to them than the livelihood of the average, below average, and the above average consumer.
Let's not forget the death bit. Aspartame builds up formaldehyde in your body, which is a cancerous substance. Cancerous means that it can lead to cancer, which in turn (as we all know too well) can cause death and suffering.
Proof of Purchase:
How do you know if your food or drink is contaminated? The FDA recognises the danger to a degree, and has declared that the warning "Phenylketonurics: Contains Phenylalanine" be placed on every aspartame-saturated product. An obvious method of detection involves the scanning of the ingredients for the word "aspartame."
Until next time, I'm your friendly neighborhood Ploogle...thank you for your attention span, and thank goodness it's long.
